E-commerce Development

E-commerce development built around the customer journey

Most e-commerce development delivers a catalogue and calls it a store. We build Shopify and headless storefronts around the decisions a buyer actually makes — how they discover a product, how they judge whether to trust you, and what stops them at checkout. The result is a store engineered to sell, not just to display inventory.

Why beautiful stores still fail to convert

A store can be visually immaculate and still lose the sale. The usual culprits are structural rather than cosmetic: category navigation that assumes the shopper already knows your range, product pages that answer the wrong objection, a search that returns nothing for the term customers actually use, and a checkout that asks for more than it needs.

Fragrance and premium retail make this harder, because the product cannot be sampled through a screen. The buying decision leans entirely on how well the page substitutes for smell and touch — scent notes, longevity, comparisons, sample options, and the kind of specificity that lets someone commit without holding the bottle.

We start by mapping that journey, then build the storefront to serve it. Every template earns its place by removing a reason not to buy.

How we build

For most catalogues, Shopify is the right foundation — mature checkout, reliable payments, and an ecosystem that does not need reinventing. Where a store needs more control over rendering, routing or content structure, we build a headless storefront on Next.js against the Shopify Storefront API, often with Sanity handling editorial content.

Large catalogues get particular attention. A thousand-SKU range needs a browse experience built for narrowing down quickly: faceted filtering that reflects how customers actually shop, fast search, and collection structures that keep depth navigable rather than overwhelming.

Wholesale and sample-led buying are treated as first-class flows rather than afterthoughts, because for many fragrance brands they are where the volume actually sits.

Speed is part of the conversion story

Store performance is not a separate concern from sales. Slow product images and blocking scripts cost you buyers before the page finishes rendering, and Core Web Vitals feed directly into how Google ranks the pages those buyers arrive on.

We treat image strategy, script loading and render path as build decisions rather than a post-launch cleanup, so the store is fast on a mid-range phone on mobile data — which is where most of your traffic is.

Frequently asked questions

Do you work with an existing Shopify store?

Yes, and it is often the better move. If a store already sells, the fastest win is usually finding the friction points and fixing them in place rather than rebuilding what already works. A CRO audit is the sensible first step there.

Shopify or a headless build?

Shopify unless there is a specific reason not to. Headless buys you control over rendering and content structure, at the cost of owning more of the stack. If your catalogue and content needs fit Shopify's native rendering, going headless adds expense without adding sales.

Can you handle a catalogue in the thousands of SKUs?

Yes. Large catalogues mainly need a browse experience designed for narrowing down fast — filtering that matches how customers shop, search that tolerates imprecise terms, and collection structures that keep depth navigable.

Self-initiated concept builds, each aimed at a different position in the fragrance market — not paid client engagements.
