View conceptShopify web design usually means picking a theme and swapping in a logo. We design the store instead: visual identity, layout hierarchy and merchandising built around your actual catalogue and the buyer you're trying to win, then implemented on Shopify rather than bent to fit whatever a theme assumed about your business.
A theme ships with generic answers to questions only your catalogue can answer: how many products belong on a collection grid before it overwhelms, whether your price point wants restraint or urgency, what a product photo needs beside it to replace the information a buyer would get from holding the item. Picking a theme and changing colours skips every one of those decisions rather than making them.
We start from your catalogue and your customer, not a theme's demo content. That's the difference between a store that looks like a template with your name on it and one that reads as built for what you actually sell.
On Shopify specifically, design work overlaps with decisions that are usually left to whoever set up the store: collection sort order, filter structure, how variants are presented, whether a bundle or an upsell belongs on the product page or the cart. These are visual-design decisions as much as commercial ones, and treating them as an afterthought is how a well-designed homepage leads into a product page that undoes the work.
We design the whole path, collection to product to cart, as one system, so the storefront's visual language holds all the way to checkout instead of stopping at the homepage.
Every design decision here gets built on Shopify by the same person who designed it, using Shopify's own theme architecture rather than fighting it with a page-builder app. If a layout genuinely needs more than Shopify's storefront can give it (heavy custom logic, non-standard checkout flows) we'll say so and point you at a headless build instead of forcing a workaround that becomes next year's technical debt.
It's the same build, described from a different starting point. This page is about the visual and merchandising decisions: identity, layout, how the catalogue presents itself. Shopify development covers the engineering underneath it: apps, the Storefront API, checkout and performance. Most projects need both, delivered by the same person.
Often, yes, and it's frequently the better move. A redesign that keeps your existing product data, reviews and SEO equity is cheaper and lower-risk than a rebuild. We'll tell you honestly which one your store actually needs before quoting either.
Not by default. Page-builder apps add their own rendering layer on top of Shopify's, which tends to cost you page speed and consistency. We design directly against Shopify's theme architecture, and only reach for a page-builder where a genuinely one-off page justifies it.
We build to them. If your guidelines only cover print, we extend them for screen and for Shopify's specific templates (product grids, variant swatches, cart drawers) rather than inventing a second identity that only loosely matches the first.
